Keynote

This was a keynote given by Kat Zhou on June 28, 2022 at UX London, as well as on multiple occasions (at universities, tech and design conferences, companies) around the world.

In this keynote, Kat explained how she created an ethical design framework for product teams and the lessons she learned from piloting her methodology with teams at various companies and universities across the world. She also charted the rise of manipulative design patterns and the like in the tech industry. Finally, she discussed what scaling the tech ethics movement entails for individual employees, companies and/or startups, as well as the entire industry.

Workshop

This was a workshop facilitated by Kat Zhou on June 28, 2022 at UX London, as well as on multiple occasions (at universities, tech and design conferences, companies) around the world.

In this workshop, Kat led a hands-on workshop where participants collaboratively applied the Design Ethically framework. Participants worked with others to speculate and brainstorm and left this workshop with tools that they could bring to their teams. Designers, product manager, engineers, researchers (anyone in a product team) were all welcome to attend.
